Whilst patient expectations of healthcare outcomes and experiences are rising the need to control costs increases. Effective future healthcare will blend medical expertise with social and behavioral understandings that enable more effective prevention and treatment. This can only occur if new approaches are designed in collaboration with a neglected asset - patients.

In healthcare medical advances alone cannot deal with current challenges. Through a more engaged relationship with patients and their families we can develop solutions to issues like effective delivery of treatment or create more integrated health and social approaches that are not purely medical.

By stepping outside the clinic, we can find ways to support patients in making better day-to-day health choices. We can also identify patient groups that have potential to engage with preventative solutions. By developing stronger, more productive relationships we can build people’s capacity to manage their own wellbeing.
